The outline method organizes notes by level. Main points stay near the left edge, supporting details sit underneath them, and examples can go one level deeper.
Use levels to show relationships
Begin a new top-level item when the subject changes. Indent facts, explanations, and examples beneath the point they support.
Keep each line focused
A short line is easier to scan, move, and place at the right level. Add another child item instead of turning one bullet into a long paragraph.
Adjust the outline while you learn
Move a line when it belongs under a different point. Collapse sections you have finished, or focus on one branch when you need to review its details.
